Construction

Your adventure starts with a caravan that’s designed and built for the journey

Constructed for Tough Conditions

The EcoTourer was designed and engineered in Australia for Australian conditions. EcoTourer assembly is carried out in a modern, purpose-built factory using a seven-stage procedure.

Low Profile, Aerodynamic Shape

EcoTourer’s low profile shape is no accident. It gets you into places regular caravans just can’t go, as well as improving fuel efficiency and reducing the effects of wind gusts when you’re on the highway.

Graduated Chassis

Using sophisticated computer modelling, the EcoTourer chassis was developed to optimise strength where it’s most required, with double hollow section beams around high stress areas that are hot-dipped galvanised, and tapered sections where applicable. This conserves weight while maximising strength. A patented folding drawbar is standard on all EcoTourers to reduce the overall length for storage. High grade 450MPa steel is used in the main load carrying areas of the chassis.

Walls

EcoTourer engineers chose double fibreglass skin, polyurethane sandwich panel wall construction because of its hight strength-to-weight ratio, high impact resistance and stability in varying temperatures.

A stainless steel channel is built into the wall for mounting to the chassis. The high strength fibreglass skin is an ideal material for attaching the furniture. This construction method has been proven on thousands of truck bodies throughout the world over millions of kilometres.

Roof

The roof is constructed using a lightweight, one piece outer fibreglass moulded skin. This eliminates the traditional joins of caravan roofs which can leak if not maintained. The outer skin has seven structural beams bonded onto it. These beams also form the overhead cupboards. The remaining areas have 50mm polystyrene bonded into them and are finished with vinyl coated plywood ceiling panels. This integrated construction allows optimum control of weight while maintaining strength and rigidity.

Opening and Closing Mechanism

The mechanism for opening and closing the roof is a simple mechanical-linked jacking arrangement. The weight is balanced by four large coil springs. The movement is achieved by the use of jacks which incorporate recirculating ball screws to reduce friction. The mechanism is operated effortlessly by either a cordless drill or by hand winding.

Quality is Built in

EcoTourer design is innovative, unique and built to last, wherever your journeys take you. It’s not only a source of great pride for us, we want you to enjoy your EcoTourer everyday and take satisfaction from the way it looks, its ease of maintenance and the comfort it offers when you’re a long way from home.
From the external finish to the fabrics and material on the inside, even the raw materials and the running gear, you can sense that we use only the best quality materials from the world’s best manufacturers. They’re chosen for their durability and suitability so that your EcoTourer is always a source of great pleasure and that adds real value to your life on the road.

Furniture

EcoTourer furniture is built by skilled tradespeople. Hollowbox construction furniture is used throughout. EcoTourer furniture is highly durable and easy to clean thanks to the use of Formica laminate on interior and exterior surfaces.

Positive push-button catches are used on all doors and drawers. All overhead cupboard doors are coated with gloss white two-pack paint to match the sleek fibreglass overhead cupboards for an integrated style, that’s durable and easy
to live with.
